With the aim of showcasing new technologies and innovations to the broader community, City Lab Biobío and the Municipal Hubs network have opened a call for startups, scaleups and domestic companies to join as «Innovators of the Future» and take part in the global city science summit Cities in Transition, to be held on 8 October at the Teatro Biobío in Concepción.

The Summit, organised by the urban laboratory in the Biobío region, will draw around a hundred researchers in urbanism, data science and technology from Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America, with public activities inviting attendees to «dream up» the cities of the future through the lens of science, urban thinking and talks by world-renowned speakers.

The call asks innovators to present an interactive, informative and visually engaging stand showcasing technologies and products aimed at reshaping the future of cities from the south of the country. Participants should also demonstrate how their projects contribute to dreaming up, imagining and building more just, sustainable and collaborative cities through high-impact urban and social technology solutions.

«City Lab Biobío is focused on researching the development of better cities using science and technology, always with an eye on anticipating future scenarios. But a city cannot be built without the participation of those who live in it. That is why this call is about making sure we all have a part in shaping the future of the cities we dream of,» said Fernando Pérez, the laboratory’s principal director.

How to Take Part in the Summit

Applicants must submit a form including the name of their project, a description of the problem they address, their target user segment and the benefits their solution brings to the planning and development of more just, sustainable and collaborative cities. Alongside the form, applicants must attach a visual document outlining the content and elements they plan to use within the Teatro Biobío, as well as a pitch for their proposal.

Selected participants will present their solutions in person on the second floor of the Teatro Biobío on Wednesday, 8 October, in an environment designed to foster collaboration, visibility and connections with national and international players from the urban, technology and scientific ecosystems.

Full application guidelines, including requirements, submission materials, deadlines and required documents, are attached to this communication. For any questions about the process, contact Dhayana Albornoz at contacto@citylabbiobio.cl or innova@providencia.cl.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, 26 August, at 23:59.
