At the request of the Regional Governor of Biobío, Rodrigo Díaz Wörner, City Lab Biobío launched a series of visits by the heads of media outlets based in Concepción and the Biobío region. In this context, Marcela Martínez and her team received Mauro Mosciatti, director of Radio Bío-Bío, at the laboratory’s offices. The head of the Concepción-based media group was accompanied by Óscar Ferrel Martínez, head of the Transport and Infrastructure Division at the Regional Government of Biobío.

A keen observer of city life, Mosciatti quickly identified on the platform the iconic landmarks of Concepción as well as the longstanding challenges in each neighbourhood. His close ties to FM 98.1 naturally feed him with data and accounts from residents, authorities and key stakeholders connected to the neighbourhoods under study. This unique perspective opened a conversation about urban planning in the city, positioning CityScope not merely as another tool for urban planning in Concepción, but as the technology with the greatest potential for bringing the city closer to the Biobío River.

Marcela Martínez, director of City Lab Biobío, said: “This request from the Regional Governor to invite the heads of the region’s media outlets has a specific purpose: for these communication channels to gain a thorough understanding of our research centre’s mission, the opportunities CityScope offers for transforming cities in the region, and of course the fact that this is a technology unique in Chile and in South America, present in only eight other countries in the world — and we have it here, in Concepción, in the Regional Government of Biobío building.”
