Academia has been one of City Lab’s most important partners, and one of the reasons the region was chosen as the home of the first city science laboratory in cooperation with MIT. With that in mind, a programme has been launched with Universidad de Concepción to allow postgraduate students to carry out their thesis or final graduation project at the laboratory.

“It is very important for us to be able to include universities and their students in the project. Local knowledge provides a unique perspective on both the city’s critical issues and the most appropriate ways to address them. We therefore hope to continue building partnerships and deepening existing ones to make Concepción an exemplary city in urban matters,” said Marcela Martínez, director of City Lab Biobío.

Al ser parte del laboratorio, los estudiantes de magíster y doctorado podrán contribuir a la modelación de escenarios de la región, conocer en detalle algunos aspectos de la ciudad y tendrán relación directa con los investigadores del MIT.
