Focused on regional innovation and technology, Suma Expo Fest took place from 9 to 11 August. The initiative, organised by IRADE with the support of the Regional Government of Biobío, brought together hundreds of national and international specialists from fields ranging from artificial intelligence and urbanism to sports.
City Lab Biobío took part in the event with a stand at the fair, where the team was able to engage with visitors and learn their vision for the city, as well as the main challenges they believe need to be addressed to improve quality of life for everyone.
For City Lab director Marcela Martínez, taking part in initiatives like this — where the laboratory can explain how it operates and what its main objective is — is essential to ensuring the work stays aligned with local needs. “The community’s vision is fundamental to our project. Understanding the experiences and perceptions that people have of the place where they live gives us a guide to the key areas that should be modelled to develop scenarios that improve the city, and with it the lives of its residents,” said the geographer.
